Pigeon Point Lighthouse, Pescadero opened in 1872 and was considered a major landmark on the hazardous voyage between Monterey Bay and San Francisco, 50 miles south of San Francisco on high way 1. Its 115 foot (35m) tower is one of the tallest on the Pacific Coast in The 2nd tallest on the West Coast. One of the tallest lighthouses in America, has been guiding mariners since 1872. It stills houses its original first order Fresnel lens, comprised of 1,008 prisms, 16 feet tall, 6 feet in diameter, and weighs 8,000 pounds.
I member I went to see Pigeon Point Lighthouse first time in October 27th 2007 that they had light turn on. It was my 2nd time visited this lighthouse to snap fotos of it but the result isn’t that good. It was nice sunny day, not clouds texture in the sky. I may have to come here visit it often. They will not turn on the light again ever since the state does not support this park. Actually, they will remove the Fresnel lens to one of the house in near the Lighthouse next week to display it to the pubic that you can see how large of this Fresnel lens.
